Chapman begins its 1996 football season Saturday at home against Eastern Oregon State, and if trends continue it will be a long night for the Mountaineers.

Chapman, 8-1 last season, outscored its opponents by an average score of 47-15 and returns most of its offensive skill players. Eastern Oregon, which was 1-8, gave up nearly 450 yards and 38 points per game and returns only two defensive starters.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Chapman’s stadium.
