Tampa Bay Beats New England, 2-1, and Clinches Eastern Title

FOXBORO, Mass. — Martin Vasquez scored in the 74th minute to give the Tampa Bay Mutiny a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution before 11,009 on Thursday.
The victory clinched the Eastern Conference title for the Mutiny (17-12) with 10 days to go in the regular season. The Revolution is 15-15.
Vasquez’s unassisted game-winner started with a 25-yard dribble up the middle of the field. Goalie Aidan Heaney got a hand on the rising 15-yard shot, but the ball slipped by to Heaney’s right.
