Coyotes Will Start Without Roenick
It looks like the Phoenix Coyotes will begin their exhibition schedule without two unsigned players--center Jeremy Roenick and right wing Igor Korolev.
Roenick, obtained in an Aug. 16 trade with Chicago for two players and a 1997 first-round draft pick, remains far apart in contract negotiations with Phoenix.
Roenick, a four-time All-Star, reportedly is seeking a five-year contract worth between $4.5 million and $6 million a season.
The Coyotes reportedly have offered him a five-year, $18-million contract based partially on incentives.

Steve Kelly, a center selected sixth overall in the 1995 draft, agreed to a three-year contract with Edmonton for $1.75 million if he makes the Oilers’ roster.

Montreal right wing Valeri Bure, the younger brother of Vancouver standout Pavel Bure, agreed to a one-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens that will pay him $511,000.
