Audio Navigation Licenses Speech Technology

Audio Navigation Systems LLC, a Van Nuys maker of vehicle navigation systems that respond to voice commands, has licensed speech-recognition technology for use in its next-generation products that it plans to begin selling next year.

The technology was licensed from Voice Control Systems Inc. of Dallas.

Audio Navigation expects the new navigation system to be more accurate and have faster response times than its current system. The navigation system, which Audio Navigation licenses to car stereo companies and others, contains a small computer and software embedded on a compact disc. It is activated by voice command and provides verbal instructions on how to reach a destination.
