Simpson Lawyers Seek to Raise Possibility of Police Frame-Up

Lawyers representing O.J. Simpson sought in court papers filed Monday to present what they consider evidence of a police frame-up, saying they only need the “barest of speculation” to offer the theory to jurors.

In a motion, the defense said that those suing Simpson for wrongful death have to prove that police didn’t plant blood or gloves in the double-murder investigation. Attorney Robert C. Baker said in the court papers that the defense does not have to point to any particular culprit.

Jury selection in Simpson’s civil case was scheduled to resume today. Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Hiroshi Fujisaki is expected to rule on the defense motion this week.
