Rockets’ Price Out 2-3 Weeks

Brent Price, expected to replace Kenny Smith at point guard for the Houston Rockets, sprained a knee ligament and will be sidelined two to three weeks.

Price, who missed the 1994-95 season because of an injured left knee, hurt his right knee during training camp in Galveston, Texas.

Team physician Walter Lowe said he is optimistic Price will be ready for the season opener Nov. 1.

“He’ll probably wear a brace for a while after he comes back,” Lowe said. “He has a good shot at playing without the brace by the time the season starts.”

The Rockets also lost forward Sam Mack for up to three days because of a bruised thigh.
