Depleted Offensive Line Gets Blame
Coach John Robinson blamed his patched-together offensive line and poor pass blocking generally for his offense’s inept performance Saturday in a 22-15 loss to Cal.
“We had the ball six times in the first half and moved it once,” he said Monday, after reviewing the game tape.
“We self-destructed with our own ineptness. Seemed like if we weren’t getting a holding penalty, Cal was sacking our quarterback.
“Obviously, we don’t pass block very well. We need our injured offensive line guys back.”
USC started third-string Brett Samperi at left guard, who was playing for the injured Faaesea Mailo, who had been playing for injured starter Chris Brymer.
Mailo is listed as questionable for Arizona on Saturday. Brymer isn’t expected back until November.
