Cincinnati No. 1; UCLA Starts Fifth

Cincinnati, returning three starters from a team that fell one step shy of the Final Four, was No. 1 in The Associated Press preseason poll.

The Bearcats received 34 first-place votes and 1,641 points. Kansas was second with 15 No. 1 votes and 1,548 points, six more than Kentucky, which had 13 first-place votes. Wake Forest was fourth with 1,524 points. UCLA was fifth and was followed in the Top 10 by Utah, Villanova, North Carolina, Michigan and Duke.

Arizona freshman guard Ortege Jenkins, from Long Beach, is out for the upcoming season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
