Northridge Rallies in Exhibition
After a sluggish start, the Cal State Northridge basketball team finally hit its stride in its debut under Coach Bobby Braswell, beating Son’s Blue Angels, 110-81, in an exhibition game Tuesday night before 377 at Matador Gym.
“I thought we came out a little tentative and nervous, especially in the first 12 minutes,” Braswell said. “We didn’t defend anything. . . . But then we picked up the defensive intensity at the end of the first half and it carried over.”
Northridge trailed by as many as 12 points early in the game, but the Matadors pulled away late in the half and rolled past the Blue Angels. The Matadors shot 78% from the field in the second half.
Five Northridge players scored in double figures, led by Kevin Taylor with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
