CROSS-COUNTRY
Andrea Neipp of Palmdale Highland and the Yucaipa girls’ team turned in the two most impressive victories in the Southern Section cross-country championships at Mt. San Antonio College.
Neipp, a senior, defeated a strong field to win the Division II girls’ title in a time of 16 minutes, 12 seconds over the 2.9-mile “rain” course that wound its way through the Mt. SAC campus and finished on the track.
Yucaipa, paced by third-place Kimi Welsh, defeated runner-up Ventura, 60-91, to win its second consecutive Division II title.
In the boys’ meet, Isaiah Festa of Morro Bay posted the fastest time of the day (14:13) to win the Division IV title and Long Beach Poly defeated Santa Ana Valley, 91-109, for the Division I championship.
