License Plates Urged as Way to Aid Beaches
Special issue license plates bearing the image of a majestic whale’s fluke are being touted by a Westside ocean conservancy group as a way to raise money for beach environmental programs.
Orders for the “Whale’s Tail” plates bearing an image by artist Wyland must reach 5,000 by Dec. 31, said Mark Ryavec, spokesman for the American Oceans Campaign. A portion of the proceeds will help to support beach conservancy programs.
Plates cost $50 for the first year. Annual renewal is $40. For more information call (800) 262-7848.
