Two Santa Paula teenagers were arrested at a Santa Paula fast-food restaurant Tuesday night for allegedly carjacking a vehicle in Yuma, Ariz.

Melissa Salazar, 18, and a 16-year-old girl were arrested at 10:45 p.m. at a Carl’s Jr. parking lot after a police officer spotted the car that had been reported stolen.

After police called backup units and confirmed that the car was the vehicle reported as missing, the two were taken from the car at gunpoint by officers, police said.

The pair are also suspects in a recent carjacking and armed robbery case in Santa Paula, police said.

Salazar was booked at Ventura County Jail and the 16-year-old, who had a felony warrant for a prior vehicle theft, was taken to Juvenile Hall.

A teenage male, who was allegedly involved in the Yuma carjacking with the pair, is still at large, police said.
