Duck update--They are 6-3-1 over the last 10 games and only the Rangers, Islanders, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh have been better in that stretch. The Ducks, however, haven’t played in a week, and Coach Ron Wilson is hoping vigorous scrimmages this week have kept the players in game shape. Goalie Guy Hebert has been cleared to play after missing two games last week because of a concussion.
Flame update--Calgary has had a bit of a turnaround, going 2-1-3 recently after a 1-8 stretch. Injuries have hit the defense hard, forcing the Flames to play with five rookie defensemen before adding veteran Yves Racine this week. Overall, 10 rookies have played for Calgary this season. The best of them, forward Jarome Iginla, is among the rookie scoring leaders with 11 goals and 23 points.
