2 Men Arrested in Liquor Store Robbery
Sheriff’s investigators arrested two men Monday in connection with the armed robbery of a liquor store in El Rio.
The suspects, whose names were not released, were being questioned by members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department major crimes unit in Ventura. They are believed to be the pair who robbed Country Corner Liquor in the 4700 block of Vineyard Avenue about 11 a.m. Sunday.
Sheriff’s officials say the suspects used a small pistol to rob a store clerk. They got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Authorities said the men were arrested shortly after 1 p.m. on Main Street in Piru after a deputy spotted a van that matched the description of the getaway vehicle used in the holdup. The red van had gray primer spots on its doors and is believed to have been stolen in Santa Paula, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
