Library to Mark Date Nixon Born
The Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace is offering free admission on Thursday, the 84th anniversary of the late president’s birth.
“We have always offered free admission on both the president and Mrs. Nixon’s birthdays,” said Kevin Cartwright, library spokesman. “It’s something the Nixons have asked us to do, and we have continued to do it.”
Wreaths sent by President Clinton and Gov. Pete Wilson will be laid on memorials to Richard and Pat Nixon. A Navy honor guard led by Rear Adm. J. Scott Walker, commander of the San Diego Naval Base, will preside over the ceremony. Members of the Nixon family also are expected.
Born in Yorba Linda in 1913, Nixon served as the 37th president of the United States until he resigned in 1974. He died at 81 in 1994.
The presidential library is at 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd. Weekday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
