Protesters Call On Premier to Quit

Protesters burned tires and threw stones in cities across Haiti as scores of grass-roots groups called out supporters to rally against budget cuts sought by international lenders and demand the resignation of Prime Minister Rosny Smarth. In the three main cities--Port-au-Prince, Cap Haitien and Gonaives--streets were practically empty of traffic. One man was reportedly killed when guards fired on a mob that stormed a food warehouse in Cap Haitien.
