Wyle Electronics Records Profit on 9% Rise in Sales

IRVINE —  Wyle Electronics said Thursday that its profit set a record last year on a 9% gain in sales.

The distributor of semiconductors and computer products said net income for 1996 rose 11% to $40.2 million, or $3.12 a share, from $36.2 million, or $2.86 a share, for the previous year. Sales advanced to $1.2 billion from $1.1 billion. Fourth-quarter net income totaled $9.5 million, or 74 cents a share, down 10% from the $10.6 million, or 83 cents a share, for last year’s fourth quarter. Sales increased 6% to $315.9 million from $299 million.
