Car Bombing Kills 10, Wounds 30
A car bomb exploded outside a pro-government vigilante meeting in a town south of Algiers, the capital, killing 10 people and wounding 30 others, residents said. The bombing in Boufarik appeared to be the latest attack by Muslim militants, who have launched a wave of terror during the holy month of Ramadan to destabilize the military-backed government. Nearly 150 people have died in attacks since Ramadan began Jan. 10. Bombings have shaken the capital and provincial cities, while militants carried out massacres in rural areas guarded by vigilante groups. An opposition leader called the attacks “an orgy of blood” and urged the United States to intervene.
