Rio Mesa 4, Santa Barbara 3--Bryan Monka scored his second unassisted goal with 10 minutes to play, giving the Spartans (9-1-3, 5-0-3) a Channel League victory at Rio Mesa and maintaining their hold on first place.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Buena 3, Ventura 0--Barbara Almaraz scored her 12th and 13th goals and had an assist for the Bulldogs (12-2-3, 4-0-3) in a Channel League victory over the Cougars (10-4-3, 4-2-1) at Balboa Middle School in Ventura.

Santa Barbara 2, Rio Mesa 1--Karina Molthu scored in the 12th minute to lift the Spartans (2-10-3, 0-6-2) into a 1-1 tie but Santa Barbara scored midway through the second half.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Chaminade 57, Loyola 41--The Eagles (13-5, 4-1) held the Cubs to one first-half basket, building a 25-7 halftime lead en route to a Mission League victory at Chaminade.

Scott Long had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Chaminade, and Justin Stewart had 16 points and 17 rebounds.

St. Francis 67, Alemany 58--Anthony Johnson had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (12-7, 3-2) in a Mission League game at St. Francis.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Buena 58, Ventura 38--Nicole Greathouse had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs (14-2, 8-0), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times, in a Channel League victory over host Ventura (12-5, 5-3).

Royal 52, Agoura 49--Jessica Sanders, who was fouled on a three-point attempt with one second to play, made three free throws to break a 49-49 tie and lift the Highlanders (11-6, 6-2) in a Marmonte League game at Royal.

Sanders finished with 16 points and teammate Michelle Berlin had 14.

Channel Islands 65, Newbury Park 51--Chenne Tuimoloau scored 15 points for the Raiders (14-6, 7-1) in a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands.

Thousand Oaks 84, Camarillo 44--Jenn Detmer had 24 points to lead the Lancers (11-5, 6-2) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo.

Simi Valley 42, Westlake 29--Shannon Malia had 18 points for the Pioneers (15-6, 7-1) in a Marmonte League game at Westlake (3-14, 1-7).

Bell-Jeff 73, Crossroads 37--Jaclyn Johnson had 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Guards (18-1) at Bell-Jeff.

Fillmore 63, Oak Park 43--April Kozar had 31 points and 18 rebounds for the Flashes (14-4, 4-0) in a Tri-Valley League victory at Fillmore.
