Water District Board President Steps Down
The president of the board of directors for the Capistrano Beach Water District resigned from the board Thursday, citing personal reasons.
Matt Ehrhart, a Dana Point resident for 18 years and former president of the Chamber of Commerce, sent a brief memo informing the board of his decision.
When reached at his residence, Ehrhart had no comment.
Last year, the water district came under scrutiny by the Orange County district attorney’s office for alleged improper disposal of sewage, a violation of environmental laws.
The board’s vice president, Doug Erdman, said he will be interim president until the board’s Feb. 5 meeting.
Because of a recent merger, the seven-member board is going to be cut to five members, Erdman said.
The district serves about 5,200 customers in the Capistrano Beach area of Dana Point, in Dana Point Harbor and in a small part of San Clemente.
