Student Kidnapped, Sexually Assaulted
A 15-year-old Azusa girl was abducted as she walked to school and sexually assaulted by the side of the road after fruitlessly mouthing pleas for help to passing motorists, police said Thursday.
The student was dragged into a white two-door Hyundai Excel at gunpoint as she strode across the north driveway of Azusa High School on Cerritos Avenue about 7 a.m., Azusa Police Det. Randy Schmidt said.
Her assailant--a black man between 19 and 21, 5-foot-7 with short black hair and acne--drove her through several San Gabriel Valley cities, Schmidt said. When the car halted at stop signs the girl mouthed “help” to other motorists, but none would assist her, he said.
The attacker pulled the car over to the side of the road and sexually assaulted the girl, then drove her back to Azusa, Schmidt said. The girl was treated at a hospital and released.
Schmidt said the Hyundai had dealer plates and asks anyone who saw the abduction or car to call (818) 812-3200.
