School Bonds
Marianna Gilbert (letter, Feb. 24) has decided to vote no on the LAUSD school improvement bond issue because “a very large percentage of LAUSD students are foreign nationals brought here illegally by their parents.”
Where does she get her information from? What “large percentage”? I teach in the LAUSD at a school that is 99% Latino and I’d bet my next paycheck that not more than 5%--if that--of our students are here illegally. And if a few are here illegally, so what? Everyone knows they’re not going back where they came from, so why not educate them?
We treat dogs better than we treat children in this country.
