Dickerson Leads Arizona Win

Forward Michael Dickerson scored 21 of his 32 points in the second half as No. 15 Arizona pulled away for a 100-86 victory over Washington State Thursday night at Tucson.

Arizona, 18-7 overall, shares second place in the Pacific 10 with California and USC at 10-5.

Dickerson, the Pac-10’s third-leading scorer at 20.2 points a game, made 13 of 22 shots to equal his career-high point total and get 30 or more for the fifth time this season.

Forward Carlos Daniel had 26 points for Washington State (12-15, 4-11) before leaving with 8:49 left with a sprained ankle.

Washington 72, Arizona State 69--Guard Jamie Booker stole an inbounds pass and converted a three-point play to give the Huskies (16-8, 9-6) the lead with eight seconds left at Tempe, Ariz.

Guard Jeremy Veal, who had 31 points, missed an off-balance shot with 2.1 seconds for Arizona State (10-16, 2-13). Forward Patrick Femerling, fouled after getting the rebound, made two free throws to close out the scoring.

WOMEN

Oregon (19-6, 12-4) moved into second place in the Pac-10, taking a 42-17 halftime lead en route to a 70-53 victory over USC (17-7, 11-4) at Eugene, Ore. . . . Freshman guard Melanie Pearson had 19 points and five steals for UCLA (12-12, 6-9) in a 79-68 victory over Oregon State (11-14, 5-11) at Corvallis, Ore.
