Coverage of LPGA in Glendale
* Re “Glendale Tournament Happy With 1st Shot,” Feb. 17, “Sorenstam Leads Attack on Oakmont,” Feb. 16, and “LPGA Takes Another Swing at Oakmont,” Feb. 14.
What in the world has happened to professional news judgment at the Los Angeles Times? Why was the front page of your newspaper dominated for three days by the LPGA tournament in Glendale, for goodness sake? (For good measure there were front-page stories in the Sports section.)
Was this local boosterism run amok? Or were you demonstrating to the NFL how you could get behind any new pro football franchise that happens to drop in on Los Angeles for a year or so?
One presumes that you no longer set a high priority on having The Times considered to be a serious newspaper.
