“L.A. Marathon XII” / 8 a.m. KCOP

If you’re serious about running, odds are you are one of the thousands entered in the 12th annual event. But most of those who get winded merely thinking of the undertaking will be watching the live coverage provided by KCOP, whose anchors Tawny Little and Tony Hernandez are scheduled to take their positions at the start and finish lines of the 26.2-mile course. On your marks, get set, go ... for the remote!

“Journey of the Heart” / 9 p.m. CBS

Cybill Shepherd generally has her hands full as the mother of two grown daughters on “Cybill.” In this TV movie, the circumstances are quite different. Here, she plays Janice Johnson, a single mom whose blind, autistic son is a piano prodigy, which immediately makes us wonder whether this drama will shine. Chris Demetral, a familiar face to fans of “Dream On,” plays the pianist, and Blake Heron is his younger brother.

Monday

“Spy Game” / 8 p.m. ABC

Remember the style and spirit of “The Avengers”? What about the humor and intelligence of “I Spy”? Don’t expect to find those qualities in this new action show from the producers of “Hercules” and “Lois & Clark.” It’s a clumsy tongue-in-cheek adventure about a pair of resourceful agents--Lorne Cash (Linden Ashby) and Max London (Allison Smith of “Kate & Allie”)--battling vengeful operatives who were dumped by U.S. agencies in the downsized ‘90s.

Tuesday

“Just Shoot Me” / 9:30 p.m. NBC (preview). Also Wednesday 9:30 p.m.

After making a name for herself in provocative feature films such as “sex, lies and videotape,” Laura San Giacomo now takes a different route toward stardom: the prime-time sitcom. In this midseason entry, she plays Maya Gallo, a jaded journalist reunited with her estranged father (George Segal), the owner of a saucy magazine named Blush. Will this comedy make viewers blush? No, but it may bring a smile to their faces.

Wednesday

“Temporarily Yours” / 8:30 p.m. CBS

“Temp” is the key syllable in this stock sitcom centering on Deb (Debi Mazar of “Civil Wars”), a down-to-earth New Yawker in search of the ideal job. In one episode, that means an assignment with a wealthy publisher so impressed with her work that he asks for a date. Unfortunately, Deb has the hots for a smooth operator otherwise detained. That would be detained, as in behind bars. Guess she likes a captive audience.

“Feds” / 9 p.m. CBS

In spite of its many cast changes, “Law & Order” remains one of television’s best cop shows, due in no small part to superior writing. Dick Wolf, the executive producer of that NBC series, looks to create another hit with this new drama. The title characters are Manhattan federal prosecutors played by Blair Brown (“The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd”), Adrian Pasdar (“Profit”), Regina Taylor (“I’ll Fly Away”) and Grace Phillips (“Murder One”).

“Arsenio” / 9:30 p.m. ABC

In his return to television, the former talk-show host finds himself paired with a Fox. Vivica A. Fox of “Independence Day” and “Set It Off,” to be precise. He’s a hip sportscaster. She’s an ambitious attorney. After saying “I do,” these newlyweds come to learn what true commitment is all about. ABC seems committed to the show, which will follow Drew Carey’s hot sitcom.

“The Jenny McCarthy Show” / 10:30 p.m. MTV

After being singled out as the media’s It Girl of 1996, McCarthy ushers in a new era as the star of her very own show, a half-hour of sketch comedy with a four-member cast. MTV also promises musical performances by new bands. Don’t hate McCarthy because she’s blond, beautiful and buxom. But feel free to express your disdain if this unpreviewed show tanks.
