Water Main Project Rolls Along

Workers installing a new 30-inch water main along Lynn Road in Thousand Oaks are making steady progress south and hope to reach their destination near Circuit City on Hillcrest Drive by the end of July.

Late last month, contractors for Calleguas Municipal Water District were completing a stretch of the main in the Wildwood section of the city near Starfire Avenue.

The project to connect two existing water mains on the north and south ends of the city began near the intersection of Lynn and Olsen roads in January.

“They’re installing anywhere between 150 to 350 feet per day,” said Eric Bergh, the planning administrator for Calleguas Municipal Water District. “They’ve got it pretty well down.”

Bergh said the new main will supply water primarily to existing customers along the length of Lynn Road.

“We have a bottleneck in that region and this has been designed to alleviate that,” he said.

Calleguas Municipal Water District, which acts as a wholesaler, supplies water for both the city of Thousand Oaks and California-American Water Co., which in turn sells it to local customers.
