The remix bug has caught Aerosmith. The Boston bad boys sent their new single “Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)” to both Joe “The Butcher” Nicolo and electronic avatar Moby for reworking in their distinctive styles. Both are being sent to radio stations, though it’s uncertain whether either will be released commercially. . . .

Local world/trance music band Ras Daveed & Providence is teaming with Moroccan gnawa musician Hassan Hakmoun for a trance Purim at the Whisky, which will be fitted out with decorations for the occasion. . . .

In the tradition of the Nat King Cole-Natalie Cole and Hank Williams-Hank Williams Jr. “duets,” Lynyrd Skynyrd is recording a new version of its song “Travelin’ Man” with Johnnie Van Zant trading verses with original vocals by his brother Ronnie, who died in a 1977 plane crash that also claimed two other members of the Florida band. The track will be on “Twenty,” an album of otherwise new songs due April 29, with the title commemorating the 20th anniversary of the tragedy.
