Donald E. Roberts; Active in Veteran Affairs
Donald E. Roberts, a longtime resident of Ventura County and a veteran of the Korean War, died Thursday at his home in Camarillo. He was 63.
Roberts was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Van Wert, Ohio, and lived in Ventura County for 50 years.
Roberts served in the Army, said his brother, Gail, of Ventura. He was a former commander of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 382 and the American Legion Post 741, both of Camarillo. Roberts also was a service officer for the Disabled American Veterans.
Roberts worked in the oil fields and drove school and city buses, and at one time he and his brother managed the Shadows restaurant in Oxnard, Gail Roberts said.
Roberts was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Margaret.
In addition to his brother, Roberts is survived by a daughter, Patricia McMann of St. Charles, Mo.; two sons, Marcus of San Jacinto and James of Ventura; a sister, Jacquelyn LoManco of Camarillo; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Islands, Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo. A chapel service will follow at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Conejo Mountain Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Camarillo.
