Happy Trails
Hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians are courteous to one another and enjoy a great day at Caspers Regional Park. That was what happened on Feb. 16, a day that was typical of my trips to Caspers.
As my wife and I rode our horses, I thought about The Times’ Feb. 6 description of the park as a looming “classic battle” between the trail users and how foreign The Times’ description was to my experiences. The only trail confrontation was with a rattlesnake.
We also ride horses at other parks, including Whiting Ranch, Aliso and Woods, and Crystal Cove. I have found trail users friendly and aware of each other’s needs. An occasional exception occurs, mostly from ignorance about horses, but rarely have I encountered reckless mountain bikers.
