Olazabal Is Winner Again
SAN FERNANDO, Canary Islands — Spain’s Jose Maria Olazabal, sidelined for 18 months because of a foot injury, fired a six-under-par 67 Sunday and won the $560,000 Turespana Masters.
Olazabal finished at 20-under 272, two ahead of Lee Westwood of England.
It was Olazabal’s third tournament in a month after his 1 1/2-year absence. He was 12th and fourth in his first two events.
“The fact that I had thought that I might not be able to play again and now this situation after only three weeks has been very special and difficult,” the 1994 Masters winner said. “It was a very special moment for all that it represented.”
