Washington Weakly: At the Greater Los Angeles Press Club meeting Thursday, retired Reps. Carlos Moorhead (R-Glendale) and Anthony C. Beilenson (D-Woodland Hills) will try to answer this befuddling question: “What’s wrong--and right--with Washington?” . . . Said Beilenson: “It was frustrating to work so hard in the Congress and accomplish so little.”
Immigration Bill: The fate of Jasmin Salehi--the Korean woman who faces deportation because her American husband was murdered before she could apply for residency--will soon be in the hands of federal lawmakers. . . . Sen. Dianne Feinstein has introduced a bill that would keep the Sherman Oaks resident in the United States. “Jasmin Salehi has done everything right in order to become a permanent resident of this country--except for the tragedy of her husband’s murder 13 months before she could become a permanent resident,” Feinstein said.
Woman Sought: Police are searching for Jeanette Theresa Federico, above. . . . She is believed to be the widow of Larry Eugene Phillips Jr., one of the two bank robbers killed during last month’s North Hollywood shootout (B4).
Cyber Cops: Yes, many Los Angeles police officers still write their reports on typewriters. . . . Still, you now can access more and more of that information by computer. Two Valley police divisions, Devonshire and Valley Traffic, have new sites on the Internet. Go to www.instanet.com.
