Celebrities to Hoop It Up for Kids’ Benefit
Given the players’ line of work, there isn’t likely to be any NBA-style elbows to the jaw when two teams of TV and movie celebrities battle Thursday in a charity basketball game.
Organizers are billing it as a match between “celebrity hunks and prime-time comics.”
The latter team will include Jonathan Silverman of TV’s “The Single Guy” and Jamie Foxx of “The Jamie Foxx Show.”
Lining up for the hunks will be Michael Biehn, who starred in the action films “The Terminator” and “The Rock,” as well as Eddie Cibrian of “Baywatch Nights.”
Proceeds will benefit the Studio City Organization for Recreational Enrichment (SCORE), which is raising funds for a new roller hockey rink at Studio City Park. The city recently barred children from playing in the park’s parking lot.
The charity game was organized by Marlon Archey, who starred in TV’s “Major Dad.”
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and doors to the Grant High School gym at 13000 Oxnard St. will open at 6 p.m.
“On the one hand, we get to do a lot of good for the kids,” he said. “On the other hand, we get to let loose on the court and have some serious fun.”
Coaching will be actors George Wendt and Sally Kellerman.
Cast members from “General Hospital,” “Saved by the Bell,” “The Young and the Restless” and “Ellen” are scheduled to appear.
