Meanwhile, the California Zephyr route between San Francisco and Chicago is scheduled to increase from four times a week to daily as of May 11. . . . American Express traveler’s checks have a new look--only their fourth redesign in 106 years. A new watermark, an embedded thread and a holographic foil are aimed at thwarting counterfeiters. Checks in the old 1994 design will continue to be honored.
