J. Herbert Nall; Land Agent for Howard Hughes
J. Herbert Nall, 87, who purchased vast land tracts for eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. As manager of real estate investments for Hughes and his Hughes Tool Co., Nall supervised and directed the purchase of about 31,000 acres in Las Vegas, 23,000 acres in Tucson and 1,400 acres in California. Before working for Hughes, Nall bought right-of-way parcels for the Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. and served as title attorney for Indianapolis-based Title Insurance and Trust Co. Nall earned a degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and a law degree from Indiana University. As Hughes’ land portfolio manager from 1951 to 1977, Nall maintained homes in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. On Sunday in Tucson.
