Dazzling Duo
The pressure is on for Cal State Northridge pitchers Benito Flores and Erasmo Ramirez, who possess vastly different personalities but are strikingly similar in performance (C12). With a 41-18-1 record so far this year, CSUN must win at least two of its next three games if it wants to win a berth in the NCAA regional playoffs.
Winners
Members of Monroe High School’s chess team, which recently won the Los Angeles Unified School District’s all-city chess championship, also placed second in their division in the country’s largest national scholastic chess tournament. The young chess champs kept a close eye this week on the match between Garry Kasparov and the IBM computer.
The Week Ahead
One of the last flying Lockheed Constellations is scheduled to land in Burbank on May 16, where it will be open to the public for tours.
