2 Boys Die After Separate Accidents
Two Oxnard children injured in separate accidents over the weekend have died at a Santa Barbara hospital.
Five-year-old Dillon Keyl and 10-year-old John Bates had been taken to Cottage Hospital’s critical-care unit for children, said Janet O’Neil, a hospital spokeswoman.
Dillon had suffered severe head and internal injuries after being struck by a car Saturday afternoon while trying to cross South Oxnard Boulevard. He died Monday afternoon, O’Neil said.
John was found floating in water the same day at Marina Park in Ventura. Paramedics revived him, but he was taken unconscious to Cottage Hospital in critical condition. He died Tuesday, she said.
