Man, 2 Youths Held in Robbery of Woman
An Oxnard man and two juveniles were in custody Thursday on suspicion of robbing an Oxnard woman at gunpoint on a city street, police said.
Salvador Morales, 18, was arrested Wednesday by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies about an hour after the 5:45 p.m. robbery, an Oxnard Police Department spokesman said.
Morales and two youths age 17 and 16 are suspected of holding up Veronica Todd, 56, while she was in her carport in the 400 block of West Vineyard Avenue, the spokesman said.
She told police that four men in dark hoods, one with a gun, confronted her and demanded her purse. The four then ran from the area, police said.
Deputy Mark Jurisic pulled over Morales and the two juveniles in a routine traffic stop on Corsicana Drive in El Rio about an hour later.
Todd’s purse was found in the car, officials said. Oxnard police took Todd to the scene of the traffic stop and she identified Morales as one of the men who robbed her, police said. The three were then arrested.
Police are still looking for a fourth suspect, the spokesman said.
