From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Charges of neglect were dismissed against a Danish mother who parked her baby in a stroller outside a New York City restaurant, on the condition that she leave the United States by next week. Danish actress Annette Sorensen, 30, appeared before Judge Sheldon Rand in Manhattan Family Court, where the judge and officials with the city’s Administration of Children’s Services agreed to drop the charges. Sorensen’s case sparked debate after she was put in jail May 10 for two days and her 14-month-old baby put into foster care for four days. Sorensen and the baby’s American father, Exavier Wardlaw, had left the baby outside a restaurant while they were having a drink and watching her through the window, police said, a practice Sorensen had said was standard practice in her native Copenhagen.
