Police Break Up High School Fight
School officials are looking into an incident in which police officers had to be called in to break up a lunchtime altercation at Simi Valley High School that involved an unruly group of students, police said.
According to authorities, police were called to the school Thursday about 12:30 p.m., after school security guards were unable to gain control of the situation. A school security guard noticed the fight brewing and tried to intervene, police said.
However, several verbal and physical altercations broke out and he was unable to stop the fighting. Several police officers were forced to step in, and the students were returned to class within 15 minutes, police said.
Apparently, the disturbance was the result of a previous dispute between two students that escalated when each brought friends to settle the issue, and the fight drew in other students.
No injuries or arrests were reported.
