Black Couple’s House Sprayed With Gunfire
GRAYSON, Ga. — A black couple narrowly escaped injury in a shooting that appeared racially motivated at their new home in a predominantly white Atlanta suburb, police said Saturday.
Assailants sprayed the house with gunfire before dawn as the couple slept. At least four bullets struck the two-story home, one missing the man’s head by a few inches.
Lee Smith, who moved to the leafy neighborhood with his wife just a week ago, told police that a group of whites had shouted racial epithets at them as they moved their belongings into the home. Police beefed up patrols through the area Saturday as investigators searched for leads in the case. There were no suspects.
