A Museum’s Shape
I was very disturbed by the picture of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, designed by Frank Gehry (“Gehry’s Guggenheim: An Instant Landmark,” June 2). It reminded me of those dreadful fashion photos where the victims look as though they are at death’s door from drug use.
Gehry’s Guggenheim looks to me like a building that has been hit by a bomb--everything is twisted out of shape. What was the man thinking of? Is he totally detached from what is going on in the world today?
Innovation is fine. But this is a distressing sight.

Nicolai Ouroussoff: If you like the metal-coated Disney Concert Hall that Frank’s giving the people of Bilbao, you gotta go see the original.
It’s the Waterworld stage show at Universal Hollywood. Except Frank’s doesn’t have the rust yet. And Universal’s crowds understand their version.
