Northridge’s Kennedy Garners More Honors
Adam Kennedy of Cal State Northridge was named second-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Assn.
The junior shortstop, picked Tuesday by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the amateur draft, has been selected to All-American teams by Collegiate Baseball magazine and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers.
Making a splash: Several members of the Dive Thousand Oaks youth diving team turned in top performances in the recent Mid-State Invitational in San Luis Obispo.
Josh Joffred was a winner in three Junior Olympic divisions, scoring 298.20 points in the three-meter competition for 10- and 11-year old boys, and 283.20 points in the 13-and-under event. He won the 13-and-under one-meter competition with 258.55 points.
Andrew Shartle scored 60.50 points to win the 9-and-under novice boys’ three meters and placed third in the Junior Olympic one meter.
Finishing second were Ryan Southwick in the Junior Olympic 14- and 15-year-old boys’ one meter (306.85 points) and in the three meters (295.50); Evan Joffred (56.50) in the 9-and-under boys’ novice one meter; Chelsie Hartling (47.50) in the 9-and-under novice girls’ one meter; Valerie Fox (61.50) in the novice girls’ three meters and Lauren Johanson (212.05) in the 14-15 novice girls’ three meters.
