Spotlight: If Your Home Has a PC You’re Still in the Minority
About 41 million U.S. households, or 40%, own at least one personal computer, but the rate at which additional households are buying PCs seems to be slowing, according to a survey by Computer Intelligence of Palo Alto. Its poll of 17,500 households found that about 60% of households with incomes of $40,000 or more have at least one PC, compared with 24% of those with incomes under $35,000. PC penetration rose only 2.2% in 1996, or about half the rate of the previous two years, the firm found.
