Times Mirror to Sell National Journal
Times Mirror Co. said it agreed in principle to sell its National Journal Inc. unit to Washington publisher David G. Bradley and several National Journal senior executives for undisclosed terms. “We are pleased to have found a high-quality buyer for National Journal Inc.,” said Mark H. Willes, Times Mirror chairman, president and chief executive officer. National Journal Chief Executive and President John Fox Sullivan, one of the buyers, said in a statement that the sale will let the company strengthen its current businesses and develop new ones. Bradley is founder of the Advisory Board, a membership organization of large corporations, health systems and financial institutions, which publishes research on management practices. Washington-based National Journal publishes political newsletters, books, directories and magazines, including National Journal and Government Executive magazines. It was acquired in 1986 by Los Angeles-based Times Mirror, a news and information company that publishes the Los Angeles Times.
