Workshop to Explain Welfare Rules Changes
The YWCA of Greater Los Angeles’ North Valley Program will sponsor a welfare reform workshop on Saturday for Valley residents receiving food stamps, general assistance, disability or other types of government aid.
Representatives from a variety of governmental, social service and legal agencies will participate in a panel discussion and answer questions about how the proposed welfare changes will affect families, said Teresa Rodriguez, a program administrator at the YWCA.
“There is a lot of confusion, things change from day to another,” Rodriguez said. “People need to be aware of what is coming.”
The free workshop, which will be conducted in English and Spanish, will also include information about new child support enforcement laws, Rodriguez said.
The welfare reform workshop will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the YWCA’s North Valley Program, 1200 N. Maclay St., in San Fernando. Space is limited.
