Unidentified Woman Found Dead on Street
A young unidentified woman was found dead early Sunday on a street in the La Colonia section of Oxnard. But police say she apparently was not the victim of a homicide.
The woman, who carried no identification, was found by a resident along 2nd Street about 5:30 a.m.
Detectives said there was no evidence of a struggle, and a coroner’s examination turned up no injuries.
Coroner’s Investigator Craig Stevens said his office will make no determination on cause of death until a toxicology exam is completed in about two weeks.
Authorities described the woman as Latina, between 25 and 35, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds.
She was found wearing a green T-shirt, purple sweatpants and white high-top sneakers. Both her fingernails and toenails were painted red, and she wore no jewelry.
According to Stevens, the woman also had a small needle mark on her left arm surrounded by adhesive residue that he believed was the result of medical treatment.
Anyone with information about the woman should call Det. T. W. Lumas at 385-7760.
