Trolley Route to Studios, Downtown to Be Finalized
The route for a trolley linking downtown Culver City with nearby studios and industrial areas will be finalized early next week, officials said Tuesday.
Jay Handal, president of the city’s downtown business association, said the trolley will run every 20 minutes from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., connecting Sony Studios, the industrial Hayden Tract and downtown Culver City.
Handal said the trolley project, sponsored by the city’s Transportation Department and the Culver City Redevelopment Agency, aims to bring people into downtown shops and restaurants during lunch hour while alleviating traffic and parking problems.
Specific route maps should be available after Aug. 18, said Culver City spokeswoman Randi Joseph.
Free trolley service began Aug. 4, Joseph said. After Sept. 2, it will cost 25 cents.
