Guest House Tenant Found Dead in Pool
A man apparently drowned sometime Monday night while swimming in a private pool, according to authorities.
The adult male was described only as possibly in his late 40s, according to Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. A positive identification had not been made, he said.
The apparent accident occurred at a residence in the 8700 block of Amestoy Street, authorities said. The body was found at about 8:18 a.m. but it was not known when the death occurred.
The man had recently rented the guest house on the property, authorities said.
The property owners found the body and called paramedics.
Humphrey said the man was dressed in swimming trunks.
The case is being treated as an accidental death, according to Det. Jesse Castillo of the LAPD’s Devonshire Division.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will determine the cause of death, Humphrey said.
