Man Dies After Being Hit by Car Driven by Wife
STANTON — A 26-year-old man died Saturday from head injuries suffered while trying to keep his wife from driving away after a domestic dispute Friday, police said.
Uy Lam was standing in front of his wife’s car outside their home when the car lurched forward, throwing Lam up on the hood and tossing him headfirst to the pavement, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Orville King.
“Actually, it’s not the car that hurt him, but hitting his head on the ground,” King said.
Lam initially declined medical treatment and said he did not want charges filed against his wife, Chibo Nguyen, 29, King said.
But paramedics persuaded him to go to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where doctors kept him overnight, King said. Lam died at the hospital Saturday.
King said the death is under investigation.
