BULLFROGS TONIGHT
Opponent--New Jersey Rockin’ Rollers
Site--Continental Airlines Arena
Time--4 p.m. (PDT)
Records--Bullfrogs (20-11-0), Rockin’ Rollers (20-10-0).
Bullfrogs update--The Bullfrogs expect a much more physical contest in the Murphy Cup final tonight. B.J. MacPherson made his return in Thursday’s 12-4 shellacking of New Jersey. MacPherson, who has missed all of the playoffs because of a dislocated ankle, skated gingerly and did not score. Recent acquisitions Hugo Belanger and Brent Thurston each scored three goals. This is the third time in five Roller Hockey International seasons the Bullfrogs have advanced to the championship game.
Rockin’ Rollers update--Coach Don Shedden dislikes the mini-game, but he’ll be rooting for his team to win tonight’s regulation contest so the Rollers can square off with the Bullfrogs in one final 12-minute period to determine the champion. Shedden has to decide which goaltender to put in the net. Will it be RHI goalie of the week Nick Vitucci, who was awful in the first game of the series? He made only 12 saves Thursday and gave up seven goals before being pulled in the third quarter. Or will it be backup Mark Richards, who gave up five goals in 12 Bullfrog shots? Forward Dennis Maxell, acquired in a trade with Buffalo four weeks ago, will not be in uniform after getting a game misconduct for instigating a fight Thursday night.
